Approval research guide
Florida approval families and revisions
Use a family page for history while preserving each exact official revision as its own record.
The family is a history hub
A family groups records that share the same stable FL base. It helps a reviewer see exact revisions, source dates, status values, code versions, and documents without silently replacing an older record with a newer page.
Family grouping does not authorize choosing a current revision. The current pointer stays empty until an official source or reviewed rule supports that conclusion.
Every revision keeps its own evidence
Each revision should retain the official display number, source URL, raw status, mapping version, dates as separate fields, source-check timestamp, and document links. A historical revision remains useful for installed products and earlier permit files.
A revision diff is factual, not interpretive
A reliable diff identifies fields or document hashes that changed. It distinguishes a source-detected change from an official effective change. Critical differences in pressure, anchors, dimensions, impact, glazing, substrate, or expiration require human review before publication.
- Compare source-native values.
- Preserve unchanged unknown fields.
- Do not call a revision safer or better.
- Link both official versions when available.
